Hi Green Kids!

Welcome to the Green Kids Club Newsletter where you can keep up with the Green Kids Club happenings each month, learn some new things, and challenge yourself as a true Green Kid ambassador for the planet.

What's New at the Green Kids Club

Rather than what’s new this month, we’re looking back at the original The Green Spring book in honor of January’s observance of eagles. In The Green Spring, Denali, a bald eagle, calls for a meeting of the Grand Council of Animals, which starts off the whole Green Kids series. We now have a plush Denali to accompany the book.

January Observances

January is Adopt a Rescued Bird Month, as well as these specific animal observations:

  • Jan 5 - National Bird Day
  • Jan 10 - Save the Eagles Day
  • Jan 20 - Penguin Awareness Day
  • Jan 21 - Squirrel Appreciation Day
  • Jan 28 - Rattlesnake Round-up
  • Jan 31 - International Zebra Day

Monthly Challenge

As we start a new year, we often look ahead to what we can do better: get organized, improve our health, make the world a better place… To help with that goal, we’d like to encourage you to further embrace environmental awareness and sustainability this year. Send your resolutions to contactus@greenkidsclub.com, and the first person to respond will receive a free Denali eagle! Some example goals might be: start a recycling program in your school/work, participate in a park clean up, and/or donate some time or resources to an animal charity. If we all make small changes, we can have a big impact!

Animal Fact

Eagles have amazing eyesight and can see some prey from two miles away! Eagles are at the top of the food chain (they have no predators), and they can reach speeds of 100 mph when they dive for food. They can also fly using air currents at heights of 10,000 ft and soar for hours at speeds of 40 mph. What fun!
