Featured Books - Yellowstone Wolves!
Wolf Matriarchs of Yellowstone

We have two new books about wolves! This summer we are featuring our upcoming book, The Wolf Matriarchs of Yellowstone, co-authored by Doug Smith. In a children's format we have written about the reintroduction of gray wolves to Yellowstone National Park. This book features illustrations from the amazingly talented former Disney animator Andreas Wessel-Therhorn. Part of the proceeds from sales of these books will go to Yellowstone Forever to support Wolf Management at Yellowstone National Park.

White Wolves of Yellowstone

White Wolves of Yellowstone is the story of the white wolves seen in areas in and around Yellowstone National Park. Andreas Wessel-Therhorn illuistrates this captivating story written by Sylvia M. Medina, Rene Hersey, Julie Argyle, with Douglas W. Smith.

Stories We Have Been Following
White Bison Born!

This is National Bison month. Bison, also known as buffalo, have a long history in America. Millions once roamed the Great Plains, and they were very important to Native American tribes who used them for food, clothing, and tools. In the 1800s, settlers and hunters killed many bison for their hides and to make room for farms and railroads. By the late 1800s, there were only a few hundred bison left. Thanks to conservation efforts, bison populations have grown, and now thousands live in protected areas and national parks.

Recently, an extremely rare white bison was born in Yellowstone National Park, which is considered very special and sacred by some Native American tribes. It is seen as a sign of hope and renewal. This new calf brings excitement and is a reminder of the importance of protecting bison and their habitats. In a special ceremony at the end of June the calf was named "Wakan Gli," which means “Return Sacred” in the Lakota Indian language.

Coral Reef Awareness Month

Coral reefs are very important because they provide homes for many sea creatures, help protect coastlines from big waves, and support fishing and tourism. However, coral reefs are in trouble because of global warming. The Earth's temperature is rising, and this makes the ocean warmer too. When the water gets too warm, coral reefs can get sick and turn white, a problem called coral bleaching. If the water stays too warm for too long, the corals can die. Global warming also causes more severe storms and higher sea levels, which can damage coral reefs even more. It's important to take care of our planet to help protect these amazing underwater ecosystems.
