New Hopes for Puerto Rico's Coral Reefs
There has been a growing issue in the tropics over the past decade. Coral bleaching, coral-killing algae, and climate change are the main contributors. Puerto Rico thrives off its coral reefs for tourism and food gathering. However, as the coral is dying, a plan needs to be put in place to combat the issue. The NOAA has granted Puerto Rico $40 million to help revitalize its reefs. With the money, they can restore six reefs around the island and plant more than 124,000 microfragments of coral. They will also release thousands of sea urchins and crabs to eat away at the coral-killing algae. If you'd like to read more, click here!

In celebration of National Dyslexia Week and World Animal Day, we are giving away three books! We hope you enjoy them and learn a lot! Email us at contactus@gmail.com and request the specific book you would like. The first two requests per book will be honored. Include your name and address in the email, and we would love nothing more than to share your photos online showing your children reading the books!
From these books, you can learn the following:
- Elee and the Shining Star is a Noah Kahan text, which means that it is specially written for people with dyslexia!
- Gorilla's Roar (third edition) occurs with the Green Kids and their friend Konda. They are trying to return a baby mountain gorilla named Kunga to its family.
- A "Tail" of Three Lions takes place in the African savannah and teaches kids about poaching. Tau's two brothers are captured by poachers, and he has to figure out how to save them before it's too late. This story was co-written with Ian Michler, who created the film and campaign Blood Lions. To learn more about the initiative, click here!
- White Wolves of Yellowstone is a story of the white wolves seen in Yellowstone from the Hayden Valley, Canyon, and Wapiti Lake Packs!
Beautiful illustrations by: Andreas Wessel-Therhorn and Morgan Spicer! |

Our not-for-profit of the month is the Rainforest Action Network. This group is dedicated to environmental and social justice in rainforests around the world. They focus on saving the rainforests and the nature within them while also helping those who are indigenous to the area. They strive to help anyone who is considered to be on the front lines of living in deforestation. Their values lie with the planet as much as those living near the chaos.
